High School Musical star Monique Coleman will play the late Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes,  who died at 30 from severe head injuries in 2002 following a horrific car crash in La Ceiba, Honduras, in a biopic of the star’s life and tragic death.
Coleman says she’s excited about paying homage to the star, “I have aspirations to do the TLC story. I’ve been doing a little research into them and I can see a little Left-Eye in here.”

Lopes was a part of the Grammy award winning R&B trio TLC, selling more than 45 million albums worldwide. Their second album CrazySexyCool was the first album by a female group to be awarded diamond certification by the RIAA for selling over 11 million copies. Making them one of the most successful girl groups of all time. In 2006, Billboard ranked the group as the second greatest trio of all time, behind the Beegees.
