As of Friday Chicago police confirmed that the .45-caliber found in a vacant lot, was the firearm used in the murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew.
“The weapon has been positively identified through forensic examination as the weapon that was used in the homicides,” said police Superintendent Jody Weis, according to the Associated Press.

Thursday Jennifer Hudson’s family announced a new foundation for families of murder victims.
The Hudson-King Foundation is for Families of Slain Victims. The foundation is named in honor of the singer/actress’ mother Darnell Hudson Donerson, brother Jason Hudson and nephew Julian King.
