Republican nominee John McCain has chosen Alaskan Governor, Sarah Palin, as his Vice President. This means if McCain wins the election on November 4th, Palin will be the first female VP. Although the decision may be good news to most feminists, not all of America is pleased with his decision, citing Palin is inexperienced and claiming McCain made an “irresponsible and tactless decision”. Governor Palin’s personal life has also come under scrutiny when news broke that her unwed 17 year old teenage daughter was 5-months pregnant. With the Republican National Convention taking place this week, news of the pregnancy seems to be the main focus as opposed to changes the Republican party will set forth if they are put into office. No matter what the case may be, we are happy to see a female in a (potentially) powerful position.
