Fresh off the heels of President-elect Barack Obama‘s big win, the stars are lining up everything from dresses, to performances:
Oprah, who put her career on the line when she endorsed Obama (she stated in one interview that she started to lose sponsors and viewers), says she already has her inauguration dress. But she’s not the only one, the new First Lady Michelle Obama started searching for her inauguration dress “weeks ago”, according to sources inside the Obama camp.
Oprah is not the only star coming out though, Beyonce says she wants to sing at the inauguration:
About the win and her anticipation & willingness to do anything for her new President, the R&B “Diva” says: “I’m there. I can’t wait,” she told the Associated Press. “I feel like all of us, we’re ready to do whatever we have to do. Whatever they want — if they need me to volunteer, they need me to sing, I’m there, and I’m ready.” This would be good news for the little Obama’s, Malia & Sasha since they are HUGE Beyonce fan’s, along with their dad.
Looks like she’s serious about that icon status she’s going for, this would definitely be history in itself if she sang at the 1st African-American President’s inauguration.
Besides the stars preparing for Inauguration Day, so are proud citizens who voted for Barack. Majority of DC hotel’s are completely booked for January 20, 2009 and tickets to the Inauguration are selling out quickly. Get it while it’s good people!
In a recent list conducted by Parade, Oprah was ranked #1 on the list of most charitable givers. This may not come as a surprise to some, as she has been very open with her philanthropy endeavors. Her charitable causes include her hit ABC show ‘Oprah’s Big Give’, The Oprah Winfrey Foundation, Oprah’s Angel Network and her all girls school in Africa- Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy School for Girls. The total amount of money she has given out to date exceeds $50,200,000.
That’s what it’s about, giving. You have to give to receive and it’s not always about what you can do financially. If you can put a smile on a young girl’s face, you’ve done your job.
