A new Rihanna record recently leaked called to the internet called “Bitch, I’m Special”, reportedly from her upcoming album:
The song is sort of like an animated feminine rap. She almost doesn’t use vocals at all on the record, and if I haven’t been following her sound and music I would have thought it wasn’t her. Definitely a different sound for her, and I’m not sure I like it. After the early 2007 release of her uber smash hit single “Umbrella” her career took off in a spaceship and never looked back. Playing with different looks and sounds since she hit the scene in 2005 (she went from Reggae to R&B to Pop), it seemed like she finally found her place in the world. With this very boastful, egotistical single, it will leave some to think:
“Is her and Beyonce going to head to head for the crown as the ‘industry queen’? Who is biting off of who? And last but not least, who will win?” It seems as if in the music game Beyonce has been untouchable, with very few in her league, making comparison’s near impossible and on some instance’s- insults.
Like Beyonce, Rihanna has reinvented her sound on each one of her albums, but the Quen Bey hasn’t been as well received as Little Miss Sunshine. While Dangerously In Love was critically acclaimed and to some standards, considered a masterpiece (and to date her best), B’Day was not that convincing. Many was disappointed in the album and a petition was made against her “Deja Vu” video. As for her new I Am… Sasha Fierce era, many people are over her dance anthems and is tired of her experimenting with new sounds, her inconsistency is starting to become a tad annoying to many die-hard Beyonce fans.
So… what’s it going to be? Who will take the crown?
Being that Fall is officially in, the most convenient and fabulous accessory is also back: Scarves, Check out how celebs wear them:
There are several ways to wear a scarf. You can check out WhoWhatWear’s How-To video here to see their featured examples. Being that it’s Fall and there are so many trends to keep up with, scarf’s are the safest and most fashionable ways to keep up with the trends without spending a fortune. Although your whole look may be basic, a scarf can really elevate your look to the next level.
Their are many many ways to wear a scarf, as seen above, my favorite being the way Jessica Biel wore her leopard print scarf while out in Rome. The most popular way to wear a scarf is how Rihanna wore her fringed Balenciaga scarf while dining in NYC and how Beyonce wore her scarf while landing in the Philippines.
There are silk scarves (Beyonce), lightweight scarves (Rihanna), heavyweight scarves (Jessica Biel, Monica) and knit scarves.
There are many places to purchase a scarf depending on your budget. You can go to Forever 21 ($6-$20), H&M ($10-$40), Urban Outfitters ($20-$50), Bloomingdales ($55-$300), Net-A-Porter ($135-$1000), and many more chain department stores and boutiques.
Here are some of my picks:
Stay fab ladies!
Here is the OFFICIAL video of T.I.‘s current chart-topping single “Live Your Life” featuring the beautiful Rihanna:
Given the song, the video matches that pretty well. It’s very cinematic, very engaging and almost as enticing as watching a movie. However, there is just too much going on for me, but it doesn’t take away from the song, which seems to be everyone’s “theme song” right now.
A look that was originally made super hot in the spring has now made its way to the fall in a fiery flash of fashion fire…leather/lame’ leggings! Who woulda thunk it? Surprisingly, this disco fever look has translated well into the millennium. Check out who’s been rocking the look lately:
MC Lyte at the VH-1 Hip Hop Honors keeping it fresh and young with an off-the-shoulder top and platform heels.
Rihanna wears her leggings with feathers with a bustier, cropped blazer, and ultra-long necklace…always the alternative look…but mostly fab!
Eve, looking rather splenderiffic after coming out of fashion hiding. She completes her rock glam look with a gold lame top and black booties.
The epitome of maternal style, Jennifer Lopez, pulling the look together (while preggers, no less)with a sweater, black top, skinny patent leather belt, and open-toed strappy heels.
Queen of the party scene, Lindsay Lohan, wearing the black/white look with Mary Jane heels.
Kelly Rowland rocking it with black blouse with blouson sleeves and patent leather calf-length boots.
One of my favorite hot mamas, Heidi Klum, adding a pop of color with an Elizabeth & James mini dress. I still love that YSL croc tote!
Christina Milian rocking the look with a sheer gauzy top and black (suede looking) knee boots.
To get the look, you first need a pair of hot leather (looking ;0) leggings. Hot Topic and American Apparel have some very affordable choices:
Hot Topic Lame Leggings at $18.99
American Apparel Leggings at $44.00
You can use the celeb looks as a guide to finish your look. The most difficult (and boldest) task is finding the leggings. Now that you have them, be creative with your look…and keep it strictly stylish!

I know a lot of times as females, we don’t know what to do with our hair. We either walk around with it in a ponytail or just throw a hat on. Well, I have some old school inspirations for you:
The retro era has made a huge come back! The 20’s-50’s were ruled by stars such as Norma Shearer, Bette Davis, Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe, Veronica Lake, Katharine Hepburn, Joan Crawford and Greta Garbo. They were setting the tone when it came to fashion, beauty and even talent. You will often see imitations of these stars, the most famous being Marilyn Monroe.
There are some celebrities that play with the retro look once in a while and then there are those who have established it as their personal style. The most popular being Dita Von Teese and Katy Perry, with Katy giving it her own ‘updated’ spin and Dita leaning more towards burlesque. The retro look was even the theme of the Baby Phat/KLS Fall 2008 runway show:
From red carpets to runways, the retro looks of the 1940’s and 1950’s is everywhere. Want in on the action? Whether it’s big barrel curls, deep waves or a fancy up-do, we got you. Too see ideas for different retro hair styles… Read the rest of this entry »
In a recent interview with an Australian magazine, Rihanna spoke about several things, including her upcoming LP:
Here’s what she had to say about her new album, which is slated for release early 2009:
“I’m not going to give anything away, but it’s going to be very edgy. ‘Good Girl Gone Bad’ definitely spoke to a year in my life, a year of attitude. It stood for who I am – the attitude, the edge. My next album will take it up a notch. I want to keep growing. I don’t want to get stuck. I want to change.”
There’s no doubt that the 2007-2008 year was her’s. With her world-dominating hit “Umbrella”, which catapulted her from innocent island girl to international super star, then with “Take A Bow” and “Disturbia” recently sitting atop the charts, a Grammy, two moon men (VMA’s), a Cover Girl contract and almost 10 million records sold world wide, it seems like this girl just has it and was destined for success. But is it too much too soon?
Many people are saying she needs to take a break and wait for at least the end of 2009. She has released a total of 3 albums plus a re-release in a total of 3 years; her first 3 albums were released in a 2 year span. Either it’s good marketing or bad marketing, but as they say “absence makes the heart grow fonder”. Maybe a vacation or two…. or three? While it’s good to ride the waves of success and bend the rod while it’s still hot, too much too soon can be a bit over whelming for some people and they can grow sick of you. That’s never good! While I’m a very big fan of Rihanna, I must say, I need at least a bathroom break.
In other Rihanna news, her and R&B singer Chris Brown will embark on a world wide tour and their first stop will be New Zealand. When tickets recently went on sale for their concert, it sold out in 20 minutes! Must be nice.
